Friendly Fire: Blood and Gore
Description
Friendly Fire: Blood and Gore is a short shooting platformer of six levels. The player's character, a yellow man wearing a top hat, with a moustache and a monocle, needs to blast all the cute creatures in the enclosed areas and collect their intestines, as those provide experience. Movement is done through the keyboard while shooting can be done in any direction, using the mouse.
Enemies spawn automatically for a period of time until a spawn stop is announced. Opponents usually appear from flowers and attack the player using bullets or by launching bees that can only be evaded. Most enemies need multiple hits to kill (unless a critical kill is performed, aiming for the head) and they slowly degrade while being shot. Fast-firing weapons can overheat and need a while to cool down again. Most of the levels also include a larger boss character.
The game is filled with all sorts of achievements and when a certain amount of experience is acquired, it can be traded in for one of the 22 available weapons, which are selected through a branching path. The arsenal includes machine guns, shotguns, bombs and more unusual weaponry. All of the game's sound effects were recorded based on spoken sounds and there are three levels of gore, where the most extreme one just randomly displays meat and blood on the screen for the sake of it.
