Trivia

In the famous Genesis Does What Nintendon't commercial, screenshots and Joe Cool himself are featured. The gameplay for Joe Montana Football shown was different than the real Genesis version.
A blimp flies over the football stadium with Sega Genesis written across it. Then you see Joe Montana himself on the field pointing to you, saying "Does", wearing his Sega jersey with his #16 (ironically his game is 16-bit). It's the same scene in the game where he says "Great Play!", "Great Kick!", or "Great Catch!"
Joe Montana
At the time of this release, Joe Montana signed a 5 year contract with Sega to make sports games featuring him which lasted until 1994.
Voice
The game includes a voice sample of Joe Montana himself, at the title screen you'll here him say: "Welcome to Joe Montana Football".
