Legends of Pegasus

Description

Legends of Pegasus is a space strategy game. The player takes role over one of the three factions (humans, X'or or Arthrox) with the goal to explore the galaxy and settle on new planets. The majority of the game is spent in the turn-based strategy mode in which players manage their sphere; the options can be basically divided into overarching and planet specific tasks. Globally the options are empire management (global settings like taxes), researching new technologies (mainly ship modules and buildings), designing ships by using the researched modules, fleet managing and diplomacy (declaring war/peace and becoming part of a guild, which rewards certain bonuses, in return for resources).

Planet management is available for colonized planets and basically consists of constructing the various researched buildings which in turn generate resources. Some of them are only important for the planet itself, e.g. morale improves the planet's overall productivity or defense units, while others like research points go straight into the global fund. Each race has two specific resources which limit the overall fleet size and is used for constructing. The races also differ in their colonization needs, i.e. some planets are more suitable for different races.

When combat is initiated, the game becomes a (pausable) real-time strategy game. In contrast to other space strategy games, it takes place on the normal strategy map without a special combat screen. Players get control over their ships and can give them commands to move (either to attack or flee) or initiate special abilities which depend on the built-in modules, e.g. ship repair.

Besides free play and multiplayer (which is basically free play with human opponents) there is also a campaign which tells the story of a small human fleet which, via wormhole, strand in an unknown galaxy. During the course of the campaign, the player takes control over each faction.
