Only two Bases Loaded games should have ever been produced for the NES: the original which, for better or worse, introduced some new ideas to the land of NES baseball, and Bases Loaded 4 which brings together the full Bases Loaded package. But to release this as the fourth in the series with little to no change in gameplay, two years after the series made the 16-bit upgrade, is absurd. Well done, Jaleco and TOSE, you magnificent money-grubbing bastards!
But Bases Loaded 4 is just plain boring!

Bases Loaded 4 is a sad ending to the NES series, but it certainly wasn't the end of the series as a whole. Due to the popularity of the name, they kept it going well after this. Can't say if that's a bad thing, because personally I haven't played the later titles, but if Bases Loaded 4 is any indication of the direction they were taking (i.e. ripping off the previous ones with just a smidgen of alteration), don't bother. I seem to think it's not that way at all, but this one certainly lowered my opinion of the series. Approach with caution.
While not a spectacular experience, it isn’t terrible, and the game’s different perspective is at least interesting, if not awkward for some players.
