Description

The Nintendo 3DS system includes built-in games which demonstrate the hardware.

AR Games consists of a selection of mini-games which can be played by placing an included Question-block card in front of the rear-facing cameras. In Archery, the player is presented with targets which they must shoot at by moving the 3DS to aim. AR Shot involves shooting a ball into a hole in one shot via increasingly elaborate routes constructed by manipulation of the flat surface which the card is placed on. Fishing turns the surface into a lake with fish, which the player can catch by moving their console to simulate a fishing rod.

Face Raiders makes extensive use of the 3DS cameras, and as the title suggests, involves getting players to photograph themselves and friends and family for the game. Once the face is carefully lined up with an on-screen guide and photographed, the game attempts to identify the sex of the individual and whether or not they're an adult or child. After this, the face is given some 3-D modelling, and planted onto helmeted faces for use in the game. The game is largely played as a sort of "augmented reality rail shooter." Players aim by moving the console, which is detected by the gyroscope and the rear-facing cameras, and shoot yellow balls at the faces flying at them in the screen. In this sense, gameplay takes place where ever the player currently resides, they'll be shooting at faces flying at them from surrealistic holes broken through the background of the real-life environment seen by the cameras. A player may see holes broken through their television and living room furniture with outer space "visible" through the holes. Faces will attack, launch weapons, and occasionally, broken pieces of the background will even fly towards the player. Boss characters (or faces) will also appear, which may require more tact than simple, direct shooting. The game also features a "face collection" section where players can view the faces they've photographed. Players are encouraged to take pictures of more faces and people in order to unlock more stages.

Find Mii/StreetPass Quest is a role-playing game wherein the players party consists of a selection of Miis they have collected through the StreetPass feature. In each room, the Miis must fight ghosts in turn-based battles in order to progress to the final room where another Mii is held prisoner. A Mii can attack with either a weapon or magic spell, defined by their favourite colour. The Miis do battle one at a time and in an order, so that if one Mii is defeated, the next in order will take their place.

In addition, there are a selection of jigsaw puzzles with missing pieces which the player can obtain either by encountering another player via StreetPass who has the piece or by purchasing it with the coins they attained by walking while carrying their Nintendo 3DS system.
