So get ready to party like it's 1993, people. You don't even need to be a basketball fan to love this one.
Nintendo Life (Oct 12, 2010)
EA’s NBA Jam revival is not only a ridiculously good time, but it’s among the best arcade sports games on any platform this generation. Unless you abhor the series or genre in general, it’s tough not to get a kick out of Jam. Its fast gameplay, playful graphics and over-the-top action make it easy to get that adrenaline pumping, and the relative brevity of games acts as an infectious vector for one-more-game syndrome, especially if played with three other people. That being said, multi-platform gamers might want to hold off for the incoming HD versions that include online play, which is sorely missing here. If you only own a Wii, though, NBA Jam is a no-brainer.
Console Obsession (Dec 22, 2010)
This is the very thing that games were originally designed to be, of course I’m talking about fun and this revival never stops being anything other than that. The motion controls feel a lot more than tacked on, there’s a pleasing amount to unlock, the game is approachable for all, and the multiplayer options makes this a very re-playable and exciting game. NBA Jam was certainly a revival worth making and definitely one worth playing.

NBA Jam for the Wii takes everything it did right from the old games and simply perfects it. Unfortunately that also includes the lack of online play but if you're looking for some gold old fashioned, arcade-style action - you just can't beat this game!
Giant Bomb (Nov 23, 2010)
NBA Jam is positively killer... provided you've got some like-minded basketball junkies around to compete against.
RetroManiac (Dec, 2010)

Operation Sports (Oct 19, 2010)
Simply put, it is impossible for me to not take into account the lack of online multiplayer when reviewing a game where multiplayer plays such a huge role. Jam Wii is a phenomenal arcade sports title that could have been legendary with the implementation of online multiplayer.
Cheat Happens (Oct 19, 2010)
EA's NBA Jam rebirth is as much of a fun and exciting experience that we all remember from the franchise. It's over the top, it's flashy - it's just what you remember from NBA Jam. There's a few missing features like online play, and you're unlikely to ever stray far from the main portions of the game, but those are all more than forgivable. NBA Jam is a must own for sports fans of all ages.
NBA Jam has never really been about complex modes, though, or about extras beyond the codes and cheats. It has been a game that shuns the excess and emerges stronger because of that design philosophy. That was true in 1996 when I became addicted to the franchise in the first place, and it's true of the Wii update. There are technical shortcomings, there are missed opportunities and there are features that irritate rather than entertain, but none of those flaws prevent the new NBA Jam from being exciting and relevant in the 21st century. There's room for improvement, but for now this is as good as arcade basketball gets.

Hooked Gamers (Nov 21, 2010)
And I guess that is the major choice for gamers thinking about NBA Jam. If you have a few mates to play with, the game will certainly have a greater replay factor and would certainly be worth the purchase. If not, then the single player modes will only last for a shortish time before they start to become monotonous, despite the fun and over-the-top action. But having said that…wasn’t the original just the same?
Overall, this new version of NBA Jam would have been better served as a downloadable on Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network. You get the feeling EA tacked on the extra modes to try and justify the price tag for a disc-based game. If you can find it at a discounted price, it’s worth a look, but otherwise, leave this reboot on the bench.
