Please help!

I solved the puzzle and entered in the lift to the lab before solving other things in the archive room. Now I need to come back there to get the key to open the iron door in the secret room but I'm stuck there and even I try to push the red bottom - where is the eagle's puzzle - the lifts door does not open anymore and need to come back to finish the game.

does anyone now how do I return to the lab to find the key ?
