Takashi Takebe (竹部隆司) was born in 1957 in Japan, in the city of Sapporo. After graduating from university in the late 1970s, he would then join Hudson Soft. During the 80s, he was responsible for the scenario, design, and programming for various PC games including Salad no Kuni no Tomato-hime, Dezeni Land, and Dezeni World. He was also involved in the development of NES titles such as Lode Runner, Ninja Hattori-kun, and Milon's Secret Castle. Later, he would move to Hudson Soft USA following Hudson Soft's decision to expand into the North American market.

Takebe would return to Japan and game development during the early 1990s. Back at Hudson Soft, he would be responsible for producing games for the PC Engine, SNES, and SEGA Saturn. The final game that he would produce at Hudson would be the Dreamcast title Kita e: White Illumination. In March 1999 he would both leave Hudson and found a new development studio, Rocket Studio, where he would serve as CEO.
