Jay Thomas Barbeau is a composer, pianist, guitarist and trombonist. He is also a senior software engineer. He has worked for such companies as Disney, Sony and Alfred Music Publishing. Starting as a hardware engineer, he developed a cutting edge MIDI guitar controller after attaining his degrees in music and electrical engineering. He created piano teaching software in the early 90s. He is best know for composing the music and writing the interactive music engine for EverQuest. The music for EverQuest comprises many varied styles, and there are over 150 pieces of his music in the game.
As a composer, he has written music for video, film and commercial purposes. Mr. Barbeau has also written the music for 12 original musical plays that have toured the U.S.
His musical influences are: J.S. Bach, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Debussy, Chopin, John William, Sergio Mendez, David Foster. On Guitar: Eddie Van Halen, Russ Freeman, Raul Midon, Norman Brown, Joe Satriani.
