I, Donato Cannatello, am an experienced designer, having been employed professionally in that capacity since 1991. Proficient with both 2D and 3D graphic programs, I’m adept at Design and particularly with motorcycle design. Frequent user of software like 3DStudio Max, Adobe Photoshop and other graphic packages. I am a student of human motion and active in the use and application of Motion Capture technologies.

My thirst of knowledge and my strong passion for the motorcycle design lead me to resume the left university studies, I have so recently graduated in Industrial Design obtaining one written certificate of my ancient passion. In a generalized manner I am very disposed to transfer and travelling, I like the opinion exchange, and about it I’m always available to put in argument my ideas, then I work optimally in team jobs and am much given over the projects which I participate.

Graduated in industrial Design at ‘Seconda Università degli studi di Napoli’, College of Architecture, with voting 100/110. My bachelor thesis Kerkennah, a supermotard for Aprilia affected the total development of a supermotard with base characteristics agreed with the staff of the Aprilia Style Center.

Degree to the Scientific preparatory school ‘A.M. De Carlo’ in Napoli in 1991 with voting 46/60.

I speak Italian as my native tongue and English, written and technical, as a second language.

2004-2005 DIGITALCOMOEDIA (Na), Lead Design and Mocap

Thanks to the role I assumed in this young but promising company, I am handling some plans, as of Motion Capture as of Design, starting from the first definition trought the relationship with the clients until the technical direction of the project, this is producing satisfaction in the company and in the customers for the dedication and the absolut respect of the milestones applied in the development.

2004 APRILIA Noale (VE), Concept Designer

I attended some months long a stage in the Aprilia Styling Center, developing an enterely mine plan, Kerkennah, starting from an unconventional technical base in order to land to the development of a maquette in 1:3 scale. In the same phase, I collaborated moreover to the definition of some Moto Guzzi details that soon will be in production.

2003 BORILE Motorcycles Vo’ (PD), Concept Designer

I attended a stage in Borile that had as target the development of some plans (unconventional motorcycles and the restyling of the actual supermotard) still reserved, that soon will see the light.

The collaboration with an overgiven and passionate man like Umberto Borile and the geographic/cultural position of the company has made my work a lot interesting and stimulant.

2002-2003 IDORU (PD), Senior Character Animator

Starts my collaboration with one of the best Italian videogames developer.

My contribution regarded mainly the characters animations and the field of Motion capture', but goes over with passion in the three-dimensional modeling and character skinning/rigging. In this project have been used high resolutionMotion capture' cameras in order to generate extremely smooth and natural movements with the total control of the actor thanks to an high number of markers.

2000-2002 TRECISION Rapallo (GE), Graphic Artist

As an artist for Italy's largest computer game developer, I was responsible principally for creating character animations for a AAA soccer title "Zidane Generation" in development for the French publisher Cryo, on the PC, PS2 and X-Box platforms. Motion capture, 3D STUDIO MAX and CHARACTER STUDIO are being used. Initial publisher and public reactions to the game are extremely favorable, particularly to the complex and realistic player animations.

In that occasion I had the direction of the sessions of Motion Capture made in Madrid with actor Zinedine Zidane, results of these recordings are met in the game giving to the virtual character the moving of the great soccer player.

1997-2000 PIXELSTORM (NA), VideoGame Graphic Artist

As one of the original members of this small development team, I have been instrumental in the design and creation of graphics for several notable titles including Puma Street Soccer for the PC and PSX platforms, and Chris Kamara Street Soccer for the PSX and Nintendo Game Boy platforms.

While working at Pixelstorm I was instrumental in making the company's transition from 2D to 3D graphics, and I lead the team that investigated the various rendering software and associated hardware, and guided the team towards the use of the 3D STUDIO MAX program.

1994-1996 LGS Studio (NA), Industrial Graphics Designer

While responsible for the creating of 3D models from 2D shop drawings, I contributed to the production of a number of furniture pieces and associated products. I was personally in charge of the design of a series of innovative lamps and interior lighting systems as well as a youth-targeted CD player.

1991-1993 Alfabeto Theatre (NA), Theatrical 2D Artist

As a part time worker for this theatrical company, I performed a variety of artistic tasks, including program design, set decoration, and computer image manipulation. I have been moreover responsible for some costume and prop design as well, and received excellent reviews for my participation.

Interviews, issue and appreciations:

2005 Aprilia publishes Kerkennah on its official website. The lead “Aprilia Style Center” decides to create a section on the official website dedicated to the design experiences, he does it with Kerkennah and an interview to me.

2004 Finalist at Aprilia Design Prize

One of my projects has been selected between the ten finalists of the Aprilia Prize Design competition. My motorcycle has remarkablly impressed the giury for its contents of stylistic and technological research.

Summer 2004 DROME publishes John Deere

The art magazine DROME dedicates a beautifull article to the streetfighter colture and, in order to introduce it, uses images and concepts of ‘John Deere’, publishing an interview that I released in a springtime afternoon in Napoli.

2003 Issue for BREAK & VROOM ‘washigMachines’

In the book ‘ELETTRODOMESTICI IL DESIGN PER IL POLO BIANCO’ by A.M. SBORDONE, the architect describes the stylistic evolutions of household-electric as integrating part of our daily life and our future, using BREAK `washingMachine' mine restyling on INDESIT base that takes origins from VROOM, two plans, one of restyling and one of advanced concept that I developed during a workshop.

2003 ‘Cafè Racer’ publishes John Deere

The magazine `Cafè Racer' publishes six pages on the john Deere phenomenon and the tractor/motorcycle.

2003 III° place at ‘Bike Show di Padova’ with the motorcycle John Deere

My passion for the motorcycle design has carried me to build by myself a motorcycle been born from the union of motorcycle with a tractor. The result has been an incredible object rewarded in one of the greatest events of the field.

1997 Regional Champion MTB Downhill specialty

My love for mountain biking and extreme sports lead me to participate to some regional and national contests of downhill with the result of a first place to regional championship in '95.
