Translator and player, two sides of the same coin. Videogames localization was the perfect way to combine both passions. Even before finishing his university degree in Translation Studies by Universidad Europea de Madrid, he translated software in exchange for their licenses. (Audio Conversion Wizard, Litexmedia, 2004)
José learned the basics about videogame localisation from Isabel de la Mota (GameLoc Localisation Services, S.L.) and about dubbing from Tomás Rubio (voice of Max Payne and George Stobbart in the Spanish version). Then he took a job as Localisation Project Manager in GameLoc (2005).
After a dozens of games translated (Robots, Vivendi, 2004; F.E.A.R, Vivendi, 2005; Cold Winter, Vivendi, 2005; Dark Age of Camelot, GOA, 2005...), some other managed (Bomberman DS, Ubisoft, 2005...) and a couple of outsourced language testing (187:Ride or Die, Ubisoft, 2005; B-Boy, Sony, 2006), his solo career begins freelancing as translator and proofreader (Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice, Sony, 2006; Call of Juarez, Take2, 2006; Turok, Atari, 2006...) for main videogame localization agencies in Spain (Synthesis Iberia S.L., DL Multimedia S.L., GameLoc Localisation Services, S.L....).
But the lack of control over his "offspring" and how homesick he was feeling, he decided to go back to GameLoc as Senior Localisation Project Manager and Head of the Audio Department. Golden years managing the Spanish localisation of the whole catalogue of Vivendi Universal Games for 2007 and 2008, until the merge with Activision giving birth to the newest Activision Blizzard, Inc.
Finally he ended up in France into Blizzard Entertainment Europe in order to help with the release of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (2010).
Nowadays he is back to Spain, finished his MA in Translation Studies by Universidad Pablo de Olavide and is working in some future Project.
