Began BASIC programming in 1981 on the ZX81, moving on to gain an understanding of Z80 machine code. Moved on to the Camputers Lynx soon after its release and developed a number of games written in machine code during summer holidays while studying for a degree in Electronic Engineering at Hull University. Two of these games (Lynx Invaders and Panik) were licensed to Camsoft, but due to the demise of Camputers and its software arm Camsoft, his career as a games programmer came to an end. Instead, he went on to work as a radar systems engineer before spending many years developing high voltage equipment monitoring techniques at the University of Strathclyde. In 2014, he founded the company High Frequency Diagnostics & Engineering Ltd.
