Intelligent Systems is a second-party developer for Nintendo. They have created and are responsible for several of Nintendo's major franchises, including Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, and Paper Mario, and have also created the development systems for every Nintendo platform since the Game Boy.

The company was established in December 1986 by a group of staff from Iwasaki Giken and Nintendo's own internal R&D dept. It is still today run by its original founders, Ryōichi Kitanishi and Toshiyuki Nakamura. The company employs 122 people as of April 2010.
