Overview edit · view history

EA Bright Light was Electronic Arts' UK development studio based in Guildford, Surrey (UK). The origins of the studio date back to EA's acquisition of the UK development studio Bullfrog Productions, Ltd. in January 1995, responsible for hallmark games such as Populous, Syndicate, Theme Hospital and Dungeon Keeper. Reorganized as Electronic Arts UK, from then on the studio was mostly known for creating games based on the Harry Potter franchise.

In July 2004 the Guildford-based development studio Criterion Studios was acquired by Electronic Arts and became an internal division. Three years later, around February 2007, the team of Criterion and Electronic Arts UK moved into a single building and from then on operated under the EA UK name, forming a single entity.

In July 2007 a global reorganization of all development teams made the EA UK studio part of the EA's global Casual Entertainment label, and eventually the studio's name was re-branded to EA Bright Light in March 2008. The first game released under the new name was Zubo.

In 2008 the studio's key staff consists of Harvey Elliott (General Manager), Will Byles (Creative Director), Jonathan Bunney and Rob O'Farrell (Executive Producers).

In October 2011 Electronic Arts proposed the closure of the studio. The closure was finalized in January 2012.
