Overview edit · view history
Sensory Sweep Studios was a game development studio based in Salt Lake City Utah (USA). It was founded in 2003 by Dave Rushton, the brother of Hal Rushton.
The studio initially focused on handheld titles, creating games for the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and PSP, and later branched out to major console titles.
The company filed for bankruptcy in September 2005, but kept all projects going with two name changes (including Fooptube). In early 2008 the employees stopped receiving contributions, even though their paychecks were still deducted for the next few pay periods. Soon after that the paychecks bounced and Sensory Sweep lost Brash Entertainment as a big client when it folded at the end of 2008.
The company was still kept going and in January 2009 the U.S. Department of Labor filed a civil suit against Fooptube and Dave Rushton individually, on behalf of 196 current and former employees. In October 2012 Rushton was convicted for over $1.2 million in wages for more than 100 of his staff. He started his sentence on 10th October. He had previously served six months in prison in 2010 for tax fraud and racketeering.
