SOFEL, which originated from SOFtware Engineering Laboratory, was established in 1979 for the purpose of providing software such as "COMPS", a unique software for generating COBOL programs based on the standardized programming method of Hierarchical Organizational Flowchart (HOF), to its major clients. As for games, the company has developed and marketed a variety of game software packages for Nintendo both in Japan as SOFEL Co., Ltd. and in the US as SOFEL Corp. in late 1980s and early 1990s.
