Probably one of the questions a non-gamer should never ask a veteran die-hard gamer: You'll never get them to shut up. Fortunately we're in a gaming community, so type away...

The following games should spesify games that deserve a remake, or maybe even a sequel...

(reserving my opinions since you probably won't get ME to shut up...)

Currently on the list (in alphabetical order):

REMAKES
1. Anachronox - by Gonchi
2. Autoduel - by Roedie
3. Duke Nukem 3D - by Ajan
4. Killed Until Dead - by Terrence Bosky
5. Out-of-This-World - by Terrence Bosky
6. Shadowrun - by Terrence Bosky
7. Speedball Arena - by Gonchi

SEQUELS
1. Arcanum - by Inderanta Depari
2. Beyond Good and Evil by Terrence Bosky
3. Gabriel Knight by Terrence Bosky
4. Myth by Terrence Bosky
5. Undying by Terrence Bosky

Nice and tidy.

I'd like to see a remake of Autoduel. Also I wouldn't mind if Bitmap Brothers actually released Speedball Arena, but it's probably vaporware by now, just like Duke Nukem Forever.

A Shadowrun rpg! For the love of god someone make it happen! I would also like an rpg-oriented remake of Noctropolis, it just has such good potential to be a freeform adult superhero rpg.

But there are already three Shadowrun RPGs. One for SNES, one for Genesis, one for Sega CD. They are all totally different games. Dunno about the Genesis one, haven't played it, but SNES and Sega CD ones rule.

Yeah but I'm talking modern-day remakes.

I'd like to see a sequel to Anachronox.

That wasn't me. I haven't even played Speedball Arena.

-Colonization surely deserved a sequel by now, IMHO it is far better than Civ;

-Road Rash is a game that would really take advantage of newer techs, but only if there's some effort on push the quality of the game up. I guess that movie (Torque?) failed to do for motorcycles what The Fast And The Furious did for street racing.

-California Games

-Fighters Megamix, with 128 fighters from Sega's 8-bit days to yesterday

-Return Fire

-Constructor is one of those games that has a fantastic potential, but while the first still is great fun, it could be use some tweaks

Constructor! Yes!! Man, I thought I was the only one who'd ever played that game.

Those old games from Apogee would look nice if they were remade. Games like the first three Commander Keen games, Duke Nukem, Secret Agent, Crystal Caves, and Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, to name just a few.

I'd love to see update/sequel/remake of Anachronox.

At the very least I'd be happy with a patch to fix the #!%!@# bugs...

Remake:
• The first Legacy of Kain. The "battle of the last stand" alone has all the potential for some jaw-droppingly epic visuals.
Sanitarium. It could have been a very effective mix of horror and emotion if it weren't for the incredibly crappy visuals (most especially the truly unfortunate perspective) that -at least in my case- prevented any true immersion in the story.

Sequel:
• I'm with everyone that said Clive Barker's Undying. One of the top-3 most outstanding horror atmospheres ever.
Silent Hill 2. I know, I know, there IS a Silent Hill 3, and even a 4; but I want a game that follows the Brad Anderson-ish storytelling style of SH2, which is quite and oddball in its own series.

[Q --start D Michael wrote--]a remake of Full Throttle might be cool. [/Q --end D Michael wrote--]It nearly happened, in fact. The game was well into development until LucasArts cancelled it some time ago. I'll dig around for the press release if you're interested. Sam & Max 2 also fell to the same end.

Anyway, to the point at hand, I'd love good old Sid to develop a sequel to Alpha Centauri. After the success of Civ 4, it makes senes to revisit the sci-fi world.

How about a remake and/or sequel to Snatcher?

I wouldn't mind a PC port either...

user avatar

Zovni (10504) on 3/18/2006 10:13 PM · Permalink · Report

The game was actually remade for both the PSOne and Saturn, it features re-drawn graphics, new music and added stuff like CG movies. They are however, quite inferior to the SegaCD version (which is also a remake by the way).

user avatar

Unicorn Lynx (181772) on 3/19/2006 3:02 AM · Permalink · Report

Right, the original version was Japanese DOS (PC-88), and it didn't have the third acr. The Sega CD version is the best around, no doubt about that. But I also wouldn't mind an all-3D remake of the game... with some REAL movement in the game world and exploration, damn it, instead of menu choices! :))

user avatar

Gonchi (3590) on 3/19/2006 8:19 PM · Permalink · Report

Yes I know, but none of them were ever translated to English (or any other language IIRC).

A remake with modern graphics, for the PC, in english, is what I meant.

user avatar

Unicorn Lynx (181772) on 3/20/2006 4:01 AM · Permalink · Report

Nope, Sega CD version is in English.

user avatar

Gonchi (3590) on 3/20/2006 5:36 AM · edited · Permalink · Report

I was talking about the PSOne and Saturn remakes, and the original for that matter; they were never released in English, only the Sega CD Version was, that's the version I want a remake of, being as it's the only version I've played...

So... a remake of it (the Sega CD version, for clarity's sake), with fancy new graphics, redigitalized and remixed (or whatever it is they call it) sound and music, in a language I can understand or at least with subtitles in a language I can read, for the PC, is what I want...

Was that clearer?

EDIT: Apparently SD Snatcher was also translated to English by a group of fans.

user avatar

Unicorn Lynx (181772) on 3/20/2006 6:45 AM · Permalink · Report

SD Snatcher was translated indeed. Not that I'm crazy about this game... the whole Snatcher story and dialogues are totally absent in this one.

I wouldn't mind if they made remakes of all the Ultima games. I'd really like to play them. Old Interplay titles like Wasteland would be nice as well.

There are some unnoficial Ultima remakes using Dungeon Siege's engine, try googling for it.

No need to google for it, Ultima V remake (called Ultima V: Lazarus) is already on MG database. You'll need to have Dungeon Siege installed on your computer in order to play it, though. Because technically, it is a mod, but a very large one...

Remake:
- Faxanadu. No contest. Something 3D-ish with remade music would be quite drool inducing.

  • Battle of Olympus One of those games that were actually quite good but which no one played.

Sequel:
See above. Remake or sequel. What ever. Just make em!

Can you really submit TCs to Mobygames?

user avatar

Terrence Bosky (5397) on 3/20/2006 12:29 AM · Permalink · Report

Some of the MG elders will have to explain the policy more clearly. There are some TCs here which are fine and others have been removed or refused. I think if a TC has had an official release, then it's eligible. Commerical releases seem to carry more weight than freeware.

Frankly, I think MG should be more open to TCs and mods, but I think that there is a fear that if top notch, finely-crafted mods like They Hunger (made by a real development team and financed by a real publisher) are accepted, then any old fanmade mod might get submitted.
