Description
The Hobbit is a remake of Beam Software / Melbourne House's 1982 illustrated text adventure adaptation of The Hobbit, adapted for the TRS-80 CoCo and Dragon platforms the original never reached until decades later.
In this unlicensed fan port, players relive Tolkien's novel The Hobbit as halfling burglar Bilbo Baggins. The player follows the plot of Tolkien's book, starting with an encounter with Gandalf and Thorin. The other characters can make their own moves independently of the player and their actions can sometimes result in a situation where it is not possible to complete the game. Every character and object in the game has a calculated mass which affects how they can be manipulated by the player. Gameplay happens in real-time, uncommon for interactive fiction. The game's parser, called Inglish, allowed for complete sentences to be entered.
