Although not epoch-making, this is definitely the best wrestling game money can buy. It's just great, basically.

While this has been tailored so it vaguely resembles pro wrestling, the fighting is closer to Street Fighter, with wild, realistic attacks - many of which share the same button combinations as SF moves. The two - and four - player modes Vs. modes have you bouncing off the ropes for hours.

I'm not a very big fan of Slam Masters, but I cannot deny that this is an extremely well-done arcade-to-home conversion. The graphics are clean and colorful, the voice quality is decent, the music is great for the Genesis and the control is perfection. The addition of the cool new Deathmatch mode should please fans of Slam Masters to no end. Just one question: Why didn't this game come out ages ago?

As gamers gear up for the home version of Super Street Fighter 2, Capcom attempts to tide them over with Saturday Night Slam Masters, a wrestling game that, for all practical purposes, should have been titled Street Fighter II & 1/2. Luckily, this game has more going for it than just a famous association; it's a solid grapplefest in its own right.

You may wonder if TV wrestling is for real, but the action here is "for real" enough to chase any other wrestling game out of the ring. If your Street Fighter fightin' is getting too serious, jam with Slam!

For wrestling that's fun, you really can't beat Slam Masters. It's a great translation from the arcade and in many ways, like control, it's very much improved. There aren't a whole lot of special moves, but hey, this isn't exactly Street Fighter II here. This game is an absolute riot with four-players! As it stands, this game is fun for parties and gatherings, but it's not one I'd want to sit down and play all day.

It's a good game, a great wrestling game, and one of the better overall “sports"? games on our little black chunk of plastic. It shouldn't be too hard to find, so pick it up if you can. It seems to be one of the many under talked of gems the system has.
