Alien Vs Predator
- Alien Vs Predator (1994 on Jaguar)
Description official descriptions
Based on the Alien versus Predator comic book series. During the 25th century, mankind has colonized many planets. On one of these, New Shanghai, strange creatures have been discovered. These aliens cause much havoc. New Shanghai initiates a distress call to other planets in the galaxy. A cloaked ship belonging to hunting creatures known as predators intercepts the message. The predators on board decide that these strange alien creatures might make worthy trophies for the collection. The player takes the role of one of the predators.
The predator will fight through several levels of alien creatures in a side scrolling manner. The predator's abilities includes attacking, jumping, sliding and firing bolts from it's shoulder cannon. Additionally, the shoulder cannon can be charged up to unleash a devastating attack that also harms the Predator. Most aliens will drop power-ups which include health, trophy skulls, a double edged throwing weapon, throwing spears and active camouflage. Boss aliens wait at the end of most levels.

The best game IGS Corp. has ever created.
The Good
What I liked about this game was how they designed the HUD as well as how the good the music sounds, and how it has an original storyline to boot. Not only that, but I feel that IGS Corp. did an excellent job with the license to this game, and I feel that they have done better than what Capcom did one year later with their arcade game of the same name. The controls are nice and feel comfortable. This game also has some good graphics, enemy design and sprite design.
The Bad
Unfortunately, some of the hit detection is off, and there is repetitiveness on the enemies. Sometimes, the enemies will gang up on you and and you do not have any way to recover.
The Bottom Line
This would be a good game for anyone who is into the Alien and Predator franchises, and I definitely recommend this game since it shows people that even the smallest and the most unknown Japanese companies can make the better games sometimes.
