Slack Technologies was founded as the game development studio Tiny Speck in 2009 with its main offices in Vancouver (Canada) and San Francisco (USA). The name was changed to Slack Technologies in 2014. One of the founders is Stewart Butterfield who was previously a co-founder of the website Flickr. The studio's first project was the social MMORPG Glitch. During the development the company developed internal collaboration software called Slack, which was sold to the company Salesforce in December 2020 for 28 billion dollar.
