Overview edit · view history

Founded on 4 July 2000, Slitherine is a privately funded and independent UK developer and publisher. Prior to forming Slitherine, the team worked on a range of AAA titles such as Red Alert, Dune 2000, Emperor: Battle for Dune, Deus Ex, Urban Chaos and Harry Potter titles. Since launching its Slitherine Strategies brand in 2002, the company has released numerous historical strategy games including Legion, Legion Gold, Chariots of War, Spartan, Gates of Troy, Legion Arena and Cult of Mithras.

On 10 May 2010, it was announced that Slitherine had merged with Matrix Games. Both the Slitherine and Matrix names will continue to be used as publishing brands by the Slitherine Group, now being credited as Slitherine Strategies.

In 2014, the company acquired Shenandoah Studio, subsequently renamed to 88mm Games.
