Carver, along with his brother Roger and his friend Chris Jones, founded the Salt Lake City-based Access Software back in 1982. He began to produce titles such as Beach Head 1 and 2 and Raid over Moscow on the C64. In the 90's Access created the golf simulation series Links and moved on to produce early PC CD-ROM titles such as Under A Killing Moon in 1994.

The company was acquired by Microsoft in 1999. Carver left in 2003 to pursue new interests, including construction and large-screen golf simulation projects.
