Biography edit · view history

Beau Albiston has been involved in the Lunar Explorer project for a number of years during which time he has created much of the rendering code for the Lunar surface and surface textures. He started working for Virtuearts in 2000, and helped to design and develop core software technologies, including RADE.

In 2003, he was hired by Burt Rutan of Scaled Composites to develop software for a new experimental vehicle which turned out to be SpaceShip One. His work at Scaled Composites included developing software for the aircraft, and ground components, including the flight director display (FDD), the signal/navigation unit (SNU), and the ground telemetry system.

Beau found his calling when he got his first computer: a tiny Timex Sinclair 1000 which included a 16K RAM pack, and a Basic programming book. He quickly learned Basic programming, and soon thereafter his mind opened to the vast possibilities of computers. At the age of 17, he started his own Internet publishing/programming company--fully incorporated--and won the top 10 Southern Utah University Young Entrepreneur award.
