Unread messages still wonky

Yesterday I had no unread messages on the forums. Today, without any new posts, I see this:

At first I thought it was erased spam still showing up in a counter, but as the dummy numbers also show up in the admin forum, where hopefully no spam should appear, I have abandoned that theory. Maybe some other numbers are displayed, unrelated too the read/unread posts? Edits? Maybe mix-up of date/month numbers for old posts? A mystery still.

Apparently, the MobyGames forum has 352 unread messages (not really!). I wonder if there's any way to fix this. Better yet, why doesn't the forum have a "Mark All Read" button? It would be super helpful.

It seems the 'unread messages' selection now works; and I could clear the 352 unread messages (in one single thread), all from around 2014-2019 - Hurray!

I still see strange numbers. There's supposed to be unread messages, but the Unread selection does not show any.

May have been deleted spam messages? I don't have any unread messages at the moment.

No, the one I saw (once it appeared) it was a long thread about creating individual posts for each game, instead of one common game talk thread. I had read and posted in it years ago, no idea why it reappeared as an unread (and invisible) item. (I don't seem to find a list of my own postings, but it is listed in the image posted by Cantillon at the top: 'group rename suggestion' - though it had more posts showing for me; maybe spam in the thread, though I did not notice any?)

I saw that too. I'm talking afterwards when there was a handful of unread messages still.

Ok, I see there are still a few invisible unread messages, e.g. here in the 'bugs' section was one, but it suddenly disappeared, and also one in the 'bounty board' section. Could be spam. Or is it a minute timer involved when checking for unread stuff?
