I saw screenshots today claiming the original Wolf3D is available in the new Wolfenstein game, only completely reskinned to be about a Nazi protagonist fighting resistance members, culminating in BJ Blaskowitz. A surprisingly deep easter egg if true! (Also raises the question: can those resources be extracted from the game and the modified Wolf3D be played on its own?)

I can confirm this. The alternate universe version is called "Wolfstone 3D". Six episodes are available to play, with Hitler replace by "Terror Billy" Blazkowicz. The first boss is Max Hass, and the second is Set Roth, but I don't know who you face off with in the three other episodes.

I've played through the entire first episodes. It has two strafe keys and mouselook, so it's a bit more comfortable to play than the original. The enemy sound bites have been changed, and if you're curious, the former S.S. soldiers (who now appear to be Russian), say "My Life!" in English when you die.

All-in-all, it's a pretty neat bonus.
