actually no idea if i can use the power pad w/ either track & field game for the NES. anyone know? thanks!

i read on wikipedia that the first one used the power pad but i do remember playing the second one and having to pound away on the controller so i can't see it working w/ the power pad. thought i'd ask tho. but what about the first one? (i was originally going to post this in the message board for the first game but i couldn't find it in the database.)
