Hello, Road Rash fans. I'm currently playing and re-playing all games in the Road Rash franchise and I found something wrong about this Mobygames entry. The thing is: Sega CD Road Rash has to be split from here and merged with Road Rash 3 on Genesis or just made a standalone title.

Now the explanation. The 4th installment of Road Rash titled simply "Road Rash" was developed in '94 for 32-bit system 3DO. It was later ported to PSX, Saturn and Win-95. All these versions featured full-motion video with live actors and almost exactly similar levels and gameplay. You can check this out: 3DO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nb-B2i8kd_M&feature=related PS1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Nw_ob0gKR8&feature=related Saturn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQf4LcjDie0&feature=related PC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO4211ff7J0&feature=related

The interesting thing is that all these versions but the PC version (to the best of my knowledge) had CD-music in race. PC version, however, used CD music in menu only and midi music - in race.

But let's continue. Behold the Sega CD version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmxS3nWIa8s as you can see it's completely different from the previous games and feels a lot like... Genesis RR3!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCZE9J78h3U&feature=related

In fact, Sega CD game used a lot of sprites from the superior Road Rash game but was unable to duplicate its quality and so Sega came up with the game that in terms of graphics & gameplay is a continuation of RR 2, but also features full-motion video and digitized sprites... Sega released this RR on Sega CD in 94. A year later they have removed FMVs and CD music from it and released it on cartridge for Genesis with some changes.

So that's why I think RR for Sega CD should be split. Let's sum it up: the gameplay, mechanics, HUD, overall feel, actual levels and other various details are much closer to Road Rash 3 for Sega Genesis than to RR on 3DO. But Sega CD version includes FMVs from 3DO Road Rash and it also enhances the Genesis version by adding more objects on the race track.

Sounds like a far more rigorous rationale for splitting than most around here...

Seems like you could made a completely separate game entry out of this. If you do so, I can move the existing SEGA CD items afterwards to your new entry.
