I guess you have to play it with the CD-ROM in your drive, and it must have the audio cable installed. I remember playing a ripped version, so I didn't have the original CD. You can put any CD to play with, it just won't play the first track (as it would be the data track on the original CD). I used to play it listening to Metallica's "Garage Inc.", awesome soundtrack for a racing game.

I've played it fine with bin/cue image in Daemon Tools drive, mounted in DOSBox as cdrom. Here's the mount code in dosbox.conf section [autoexec] [q1] mount e G:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl [/q1] Where G is my virtual drive letter. You might want to change it to actual one, if playing from real CD.
