From what I read, it's an enhanced edition, adding multiplayer (and not much else).

If you dive into Dawn Patrol patch 1.7 files, you'll notice added modem support.

It's not an add-on, but an enhanced version with a two-player mode through modem or serial link, no network unfortunately, you have to call your opponent direct using AT-commands.

There is a chat-key, but no map during this mode (maybe it would be cheating?). There is an addendum to the original manual describing the differences from normal Dawn Patrol, though it mostly focuses on how to get enough memory to play.

(I never played it against anyone, but it works as normal in single play)
