Has anyone played this one? I don't know why, but something prevents me from checking it out, despite the fact it was developed by Obsidian...

Never played it. Like you, something prevents me from trying it out. Heard it was bad. And I heard it was okay, but short. And I heard that it was adequate but nothing special. And I heard it was a disappointing writing job coming from Obsidian.

I only played the demo, but I was not really impressed. This is a typical "Steam sale" game.

They're making a South Park game now, you know. I'll get New Vegas when they release the GotY version, but I think I'm done with Obsidian until they make Alpha Protocol 2. Or their Aliens game gets un-cancelled.

...wow. Shades of Sonic Chronicles here...they really are chasing Bioware.

It gets weirder. Bioware is doing a C&C Generals sequel.
