Trivia

Game world

The game is designed on a globe, so if steering off the current track, players can end up on another track. Also, there's a hidden drag strip somewhere on that globe

References to the game

Auto Racing footage was used as a "radar screen" on Knight Rider, the '80s TV series with David Hasselhoff.

Steering

There were two versions of Auto Racing. The first version had realistic steering, turn the disk right and the car would turn right like a real car. People complained that steering was difficult, so it was changed to intuitive steering, by pressing left the car would move to the left of the screen; regardless if it was traveling north or south. There's no way to tell by looking at the box or cartridge which version it is; only by playing the game or reading the manual.
