Realities: glückauf!

At the end of 2018, Germanys last Coal Mine will end its operation – marking nothing less than the end of an era. Time to venture into Germanys industrial heartland, the Ruhr area, for a final descent more than 1000m below ground into the tunnels of Prosper-Haniel.

Start outside the mine, visit the gigantic mixing dome and pick up your head lamp. From the trainstation underground you pass the info point before finally reaching the mining site - all while learning what the end of the mining operations means for the miners and why they are proud to give 100% - until the end.

Scanning these 6 locations via photogrammetry and laserscanner was one of the most technically as well as physically challenging scans performed by realities.io up to date, something also never done before - we are proud to take you with us to a place that is truly out of reach!
