Introduction - we meet Tail, the player character, and the president of her detective agency.
We meet our client, Reiko, the princess of a neighbouring country. She wants Tail to travel to her country and bring back her sister.
The president has to let Tail know who their client is...
Tail doesn't look very comfortable with this whole thing.
Running right at the start of the level. There are arrows to point the player in the right direction throughout the level.
The first enemy is this giant sunflower. There are a lot of these in this level.
Tail's good with her fists.
Tapping shoot and punch at the same time gets an uppercut, which can juggle enemies for air combos.
In addition to melee attacks, Tail has a gun. The default shot is pretty weak but there are many upgrades.
Clocks scattered throughout the levels have powerups and healing items.
The second part of level 1 introduces some flying mola mola enemies.
In addition to her regular ground attacks, Tail has a jump kick...
...and a pair of ground attacks, one which stays still and one which slides.
The boss for level 1 is... a giant eggplant?
This is actually a pretty scary eggplant, to be fair.
Stage clear!
Tallying up the score at the end of the level. There are bonuses for the number of lives left over and for scoring high combos.
Stage 2 takes place underwater.
The first enemy is this spork-wielding custacean.
There are a *lot* of those around.
There are also some pigs(?).
The spork is actually a pretty dangerous weapon, so the knockback kick is really useful against them.
This level is much more mazelike than the first.
These sword-wielding eels are a common sight in the second half of the level.
The stage 2 boss area starts above the actual arena; the player's given time to get ready.
Why is there a snowman underwater, anyway?
The two giant snowmen are actually decoys; this tiny snowman is the real boss. Tail will have to fight her way to it.
Stage clear!
This screen appears at the end of the shareware version.
