Kaitohranma
Description
Kaitohranma is a warrior simulation game taking place in Japan during the Kyōhō era. The shogunate was going through a restructuring so all warriors had to earn income on their own. Players take the role of the son of a dojo owner who is meant to inherit it but lacks the necessary traits and skills. The dojo has lost most of its students so, apart from training, players will need to persuade the 3 remaining students to stay. Players must make money in order to pay for the training as the dojo's trainer has retired. Each trainer offers various special skills that the player can master.
The game mixes the visual novel style gameplay during dialogues and a side-view perspective during training and fighting. The protagonist has no voice-acting, other characters feature voice-acting during dialogues. Training and fighting are done from a side view and can increase or decrease the player's stats. The player's skills and training are taken into consideration when they perform various moves in combat and a lack of training can cause players to miss their attacks. The aim of the game is to win tournaments and ultimately succeed as the owner of the dojo, as well as persuade the warriors that have left to return to the dojo.
