PlayStation 2 version

Probably the best of the Ratchet and Clank series.

The Good
Exploring the various planets, buildings and spacecraft. There is an awesome array of weapons. The cartoon sequences are great, the characters really develop, and there are plenty of humorous touches. This game has practically unlimited replay value, contains various secret areas. The graphics are very good, each level having its own unique 'look', with great attention to detail, and the soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard on a Playstation. An addictive, fun-filled and well-made game.

The Bad
Some of the sub-games can be quite frustrating.

The Bottom Line
Ratchet, a furry alien mechanic, and his robotic friend Clank, are once again called into action when a power-hungry organisation kidnaps the scientist Dr Fizzwidget and starts sending killer robots and other unlovely creatures all over the galaxy. This game is a fully 3-D platform shoot-em-up. Weapons can be obtained by collecting bolts to pay for them. The bolts can be found in boxes and collected from vanquished enemies. The weapons become more powerful with constant use, and Ratchet's health meter will also increase in size as you make your way through the levels. Said levels include a swamp-land leading to an electrical store, an airbourne warehouse full of giant crabs, a town invaded by small furry proto-pets with sharp teeth, and of course the space station leading to the final encounter with the biggest mutated beast of all.
