Trivia

Loader

The first 5 games are all original booter games, but Sir-Tech supplied them as 360kb disk images with a loader (.COM file) that interprets floppy disk reads and re-directs them to the disk images!

Logicware

The development house Logicware, typically known for its work porting titles between platforms, listed The Ultimate Wizardry Archives in a list of titles that the company had worked on in its tenure, listing their role for the release as "Cracking Decade Old Copy Protection So They Could Ship It".

Speculation

When the upcoming release of The Ultimate Wizardry Archives was announced on Sir-Tech's website back in the late 1990's, there were screenshots provided for each game in the series with the exception of Wizardry IV: The Return of Werdna. Sir-Tech claimed that they did not have a screenshot of the program. Consequently, the title in question was considered rare and difficult to obtain. All of this led many fans to believe that the company did not posses a hard copy of the software at the time.
