The title screen
There are three difficulty settings
The game configuration options
The start of the game. Each square on the map is a challenge with the large grey square at the end being the boss fight . Each section has progressively more steps
The game starts with the mage waking up to an empty and twisted land
The Awakening section is a tutorial section. Basic card play is very much like solitaire
Combinations are important as they ramp up the mage's power
A combination of seven cards gives the mage plus seventy power
Scores are given after each hand. If the score is less than perfect the hand can be replayed
Prior to most fights there is a bit more story
We're about to fight. we have more health but they have a weapon
In the lower left we have two actions. By playing cards with swords on we charge up our attack while the blue cards charge our defence
We have charged our attack and it is ready to be used
Combat is not one-sided
Killed it. In battle our health has suffered but because we are playing the 'Relaxed' game it gets reset, other modes are not as forgiving
The end of battle report
Vanquished foes usually drop loot
Here we face a tough foe. We are looking at their strengths and weaknesses and are customising the magic spells we want to take into battle
Here we are customising our abilities. Purple ones need to be charged up while the blue ones are passive and are always active
These are consumable items that we can use to make the battle easier
When a level ends the power points accumulated can be spent on gear and spells
The cards with chains on them must be used twice before they disappear. The gate is blocking cards and will only disappear when five sword cards have been used
We have just used the Screaming Skull card, one of the purple cards at the bottom of the screen left of centre, it removes one card from the screen
Our fire attack card is charged and ready to play
