Description

Dorachan is an arcade game featuring the likeness of the robotic cat Doreamon, who is better known from manga and anime. The game involves avoiding enemies and collecting dots before a timer runs out, and consists of two screens of play.

On the first screen, you control a car in a fairly open screen with sparse collections of dots and a few trees. Towards the top of the screen is a wall and a row of spikes separating you from Doreamon. The wall contains a small fixed opening and a larger moving opening, but to use these safely, the spikes opposite these holes must be removed. Each dot that you collect removes some of these spikes, and is worth 20 points. While collecting these dots, you are pursued by a bunch of animals which move generally towards you in a fairly erratic fashion. Contact with an animal, tree, wall or spikes causes you to crash, losing a life. You can put on a burst of speed to outrun most of the animals.

Occasionally a special flashing dot appears on the first screen. Capturing this dot will cause a snake to appear from the top of the screen, eating all enemies in its path. Once you have passed through a hole in the wall, the smaller dots are replaced with larger dots, which are worth (20 to 80 points). At this point, the player has the option of going back to collect these dots to increase your score, or running into Doreamon, which starts the second screen.

On the second screen, you control Doreamon at the bottom of the screen who must launch a heart towards a group of heads that move across the top of the screen. If the heart hits a wall, the player gains some lateral control of the heart as it moves upwards. If the heart hits an animal head, then the first screen starts again with an extra animal antagonist corresponding to the one you hit.

In addition to a fixed number of lives, there is a counter which starts at 90 seconds (or 120 seconds, depending on cabinet settings) at the start of the game. Once the counter has reached zero, the game is also over, but it is reset each time the second screen is completed.

This game was only briefly released, likely due to the developers not having licensed the use of the Doreamon character.
