Microzine #22

Microzine is an educational disk-based magazine published by Scholastic between 1983 and 1992. Each issue generally contains a simple adventure game, often with a Choose Your Own Adventure Style. Issue no. 22 contains: Letter - Stories from the editor, programmers, and people who have written into Microzine*

• Haunted Channels - A graphic adventure game, Your grandfather has recently retired and traveled upstate to start a small television network. One day, a large 1950s television arrives in your house, and in the middle of the night, blue tentacles emerge from the TV and pull you into the world of television. The player must attempt to save the people of the world from the Ugly Horrible Fiend, who plans on sucking the people of the world into their televisions. The player must travel between 10 television channels, gathering clues about television history, while dealing with a variety of TV tropes. All commands are via VERB NOUN entry, and the player has a compass that tells them what directions they can travel. If the player is not careful, they can find themselves lost in the land of reruns forever.
• Newsprint - An application to make newspaper pages and graphics
• Math Mall - A simplified version of Math Shop, where the player must travel to different stores in a mall and quickly answer math questions. At each store, the player must reach a desired number of nonsense items by choosing the correct amount from 3 columns. In the beginning, each column contains a single item, but as gameplay becomes more difficult, each column contains more items. The player must act quickly, because if the line in a store becomes too long, customers become frustrated and leave. Fifty angry customers, and it's game over.
• Monitor Mystery - The player reads a short vignette and views a picture related to a spy in a movie theater. They must answer correctly all logic questions from the descriptions.
