Description

XEvil is a platform combat game, with randomly-generated stages and a variety of game modes without any clear plot or setting. Most game modes involves a deathmatch between the player and a number of other players or computer-controlled opponents. Each player is randomly-assigned a character type, among Ninja, Chopper-Boy, Hero and Walker, each with some mobility differences. For example, Chopper-Boy can fly, but is slower, while Ninja can climb walls or ceilings. You can then roam the level, climbing ladders and jumping between platforms while collecting items and weapons in order to kill any enemies you might encounter.

The initial Levels mode provides progression against computer opponents with a fixed number of lives. As you finish each level (via killing the computer), the number of computer opponents is increased for the next stage.

The Scenarios mode provides alternative objectives, such as collecting flags or killing a set number of harmless animals.

The Kill, Kill, Kill mode is similar to Levels, except the number of enemies can be configured for a more traditional deathmatch.

Finally, the Dual modes allow a direct competition between two human players.

All versions of this game support networked multiplayer among an arbitrary number of players. Versions using the X Window System also support two player split-screen multiplayer on a single PC.
