Starbase Zero

Starbase Zero is a 1-player strategy game for the TRS-80.

Boltar, this is your last chance to prove why we should prolong your pitiful existence. We will provide you with starbase zero, the newest class of Cylon base ship. You may choose 451 Cyclons to operate it. The humans have been attacking our fuel dumps in the Orpheus sector. All you must do, Boltar, is eliminate those humans and return with your base ship.

The player controls a small ship in the center of the screen represented by an X. The ship can fire in 360 degrees, and is armed with 4 shields that each protects a 90 degree angle. Enemy Viper fighters are represented by a V. The base ship is armed with lasers and 5 tachyon torpedoes, which can be launched at enemy vessels. The player is also armed with a tractor beam which can hold enemy vessels at a short distance. Commands are entered via text command using abbreviations.

Laser banks contain 500 units of energy and must be re-energized lest they become depleted and damage your base. They can also recharge specific shield banks, as well as change the orientation of their base. The player can also hyperspace jump to gain distance from enemy vessels. The goal is to destroy all incoming alien vessels before being destroyed.
