ZoneRunner

ZoneRunner is a 1-player real-time strategy trading game for the TRS-80 CoCo.

Looking into the vastness of space, you think about the galactic voyage ahead. You are a ZoneRunner, an interplanetary soldier of fortune, about to embark on your next mission. Your adventure entails flying your spacecraft among planets located in the outlying area of two closely situated galaxies. Your livelihood depends on buying and selling vitally-needed goods.

The player moves between planets buying and selling commodities to increase their wealth. To move between locations, the player selects the direction of movement and their engine power. Player location is shown on a galactic map with 3 levels of magnification. Upon arriving at different systems, the player can buy and sell commodities. Control of shields and weapons are also controlled by sliding bars, and these need to be replenished at systems.

As the player travels, they are at danger of attack by enemy vessels, which can steal the players goods.

If the player doesn't meet the needs of planets, the prices of commodities can go up, and planets can even die. As planets die, the player has to work harder to supply needs. When all planets die, it's game over.
