Description

The Naugus is a 1-player fantasy-themed arcade game for the TRS-80 CoCo.

You play as Byron Axehead, renowned soldier in the King's army. After slaying a kinsman of the King in self defense during a barroom brawl, you have been tasked with recovering a stolen magical scepter from the haunted forest ruled over by the dragon Naugus.

The forest is populated by dangerous Zombies and Lyx. The player moves about a large 8 x 8 grid searching for items. Magical doors allow transport between different forests, but the player must first find keys to unlock them. The player can find rope, and use it to climb trees. Bryon starts without arms or armor, and must also locate a sword and bow. Some areas have water requiring a boat. The player has limited strength, and takes damage by close encounters with monsters. The player travels between areas while avoiding or slaying monsters.
