I of the Enemy

I of the Enemy is a real-time strategy (RTS) game with a sci-fi theme and an emphasis on the tactical side of combat. Set in a distant galaxy, it puts the player in the role of the supreme military commander of the Lokob, one of several sentient races inhabiting a distant galaxy. Faced with an invasion of a hostile race known as the Unath, the Lokob are forced into an uneasy alliance with their neighbours, the Y'dray and the Rag'ha. The single-player campaign follows the Commander and his trusted aide, Colonel Verkkal, as they strive for cooperation with other members of the alliance to push back the mysterious invaders.

The visuals and parts of the design in I of the Enemy take obvious cues from StarCraft and other popular titles in the genre, but gameplay is notably different, with much greater emphasis on manoeuvring and tactics. Units gain experience and level up (with visible changes in appearance to distinguish between green and veteran units), and can be transferred between missions, like in War Wind. On the other hand, base-building is only rudimentary, and no resource gathering is required: instead, the player receives a steady flow of supplies and may request reinforcements to bolster their ranks. The alliance forces that the player commands are comprised of all three races, with the reptile-looking Rag'ha serving as infantry, the Lokob manning vehicles and the Y'dray piloting aircraft. Each unit has a direct counterpart in the Unath forces, which look distinctly human.

The single player campaign is 25 missions long, and the game also offers multiplayer matches and custom games against AI players. Additionally, a built-in map editor is available for players to create their own scenarios.
