Hatch Cats

Hatch Cats is a Facebook instant game about breeding and collecting cats with friends. Using procedural generation, the game generates new animated cats by combining two parent cats and mixing their genes. Each cat has multiple genes that control their physical traits (body shape, fur pattern, color, eyes ...) and some personality traits. When breeding two cats together, their genes are mixed and some hidden genes or mutations can appear, just like in real-life genetics.

The gameplay is based on sending requests to Facebook friends to mix the player's cats with their friend's cats to create new cats which will have random genes. The games has various goals generally revolving around collecting the most unique or rare cats, or finishing collection sets relating to specific traits (for example collecting all types of fur patterns). The goal for the player is to progress in the game and discover new genes by breeding their own cats with their friends’ cats.

The game has been taken off the Facebook Instant Games store and isn't available to play anymore since 2020.
