Star Lanes
- Star Lanes (1977 on Altair 8800, 1978 on Commodore PET/CBM, 1984 on DOS)
Description
Star Lanes is a 2 - 4 player strategy game for the TRS-80 CoCo.
The player controls an investment company that establishes interstellar shipping lanes. Computer opponents can be selected. Played on a 12 x 9 board, each turn the player can choose 1 of 5 randomly selected positions on the grid.
The player can establish a new outpost by selecting a coordinate in the middle of nowhere. A new shipping company is established if a location adjacent to an outpost or a star is selected. This will reward the player 5 new stocks in the company, and each turn the player can buy more stocks in an established company. If a position is selected between two adjacent companies, they will merge under the name of the larger company, and the held stocks will increase in value. A company grows, and stocks prices increase in value, if a position adjacent to an established company is selected. After all spots are chosen, the player who has accumulated the most money is the winner.
