X-Guard

X-Guard is a top-down vertically scrolling 2D shooter set in space. It is a reworking and updated re-release of Polaris Rebellion by the same developers. The game design and gameplay are completely identical to the original game.

The main differences are that now after every fifth level a short video is shown and the star systems the ship visits now have names. The level backgrounds are also different. In the first ten levels it is entirely black, hinting at space, but buildings are still visible. The final five stages are played above a visible planet surface. Thirdly the enemies are also different.
