Description

Mind Warp is a game about a man who accidentally has too much to drink at a work party and tries to spend the rest of the night without getting into too much trouble. To replicate the experience of being drunk, the game uses visual illusions to disorient the player in the real world. It achieves this by periodically displaying images of moving black and white lines and asking the player to focus on a small number counting down from 30 seconds in the middle of the screen, allowing the moving lines to occupy the player's peripheral vision. If the player follows these instructions, they will experience a visual illusion known as motion aftereffect, which occurs after viewing a moving visual stimulus with a stationary gaze and then immediately fixating on a stationary stimulus after a certain amount of time. The result is that still images appear to move in the moments before the player's eyes adjust to the still image.
