Collision Course
- Collision Course (1987 on ZX Spectrum)
Description
Collision Course is a sideways scrolling space based shoot-em-up. You control a fighter ship that is tasked with protecting a convoy of cargo ships that are hauling gems mined from the moons of Zeta III. The system is encircled by deadly mine fields, so during the trip out, you will be beset by mines of three types (regular, smart and "Mirus"). There are also time beacons, which when hit will alter your apparent velocity through space.
Your vessel is relatively maneuverable, possesses a rapid fire offensive weapon, and compared to the cargo ships is well armoured. You can sustain five or six hits during a mission, while the cargo transports will be destroyed in one hit. After successfully traversing a mine-field with at least one surviving cargo vessel, you will be given bonus points for extra ships, and a time bonus. Additionally, your shield energy will be replenished, and if you have lost one, you will be given another cargo vessel to defend. The game then continues with mines being encountered more frequently.
You can lose the game in two ways. Either your ship can sustain sufficient damage that your shields drop below zero energy, or you can arrive at a planet or space station without any cargo ships.
